Petition to NZ parliament for roadside drug testing

Roadside drug testing has been in the news recently after a petition was launched to request urgent implementation of testing for illicit drugs at the roadside. The petition was launched by Peter and Karen Dow and is backed by MP Nick Smith. The Dow’s 23 year old son Matthew was killed by a drug-impaired driver in 2017. RadioNZ interviewed Mary Jane McCarthy (ESR), who identified AuramerBio’s drug testing device as a potential solution for quick and accurate measurement of drugs in saliva at the roadside.
